Shobhaa De’s Angst!

Now that the factoid is in the public domain, I guess its okay to talk about it: Bips had a boob job. There, I said it.

Is that news? Apparently so. For those not in the loop, this is about a gorgeous actress called Bipasha Basu getting silicon implants to enhance her God-given breasts, in order to do better justice to her role in a movie appropriately titled Jism (Body) .

The news was recently broken by a tabloid, quoting the surgeon who performed the operation and claims he was not paid for his services. What’s the bet it is the same man who leaked the story to a friendly journo? Is that what its come to? What became of medical ethics?

Confidentiality clauses? Plain decency, for God’s sake? As the story stands, Ms Basu checked in, had herself fixed up (three additional inches), and checked out.

When the time came to pay up, she disappeared and refused to take the doc’s calls.

In desperation, his office contacted Ms Basu’s boyfriend, John Abraham, who said he was not aware of any such operation.

Soon, even the actor refused to respond to calls from the clinic. Left with no alternative, the doctor may have come up with the idea of exposing the actress in print. Maybe, he thought he could shame her into settling his bill (Rs 2.5 lakh).

And she winds up with ” Every other aspiring actress goes under the knife to fix assorted body parts. The only thing big about this deal are the extra inches a surgeon adds. Too bad Ms Basu’s doc isn’t a gentleman. I hope after this leak, he never recovers his money.”

Hilarious. Even if we admit to the speculation that it was the doctor who spoke to the press (which is only Ms. De’s speculation so far), what other course of action would she recommend? That he file a legal case, perhaps?

As for me, what left me shattered was the information that Rakhi Sawant is not all real…. ah well. As I’ve been asked on numerous occassons, why is it that men never can figure this out? :o)
