thanks alex, and glad your problem sorted out cleaner than mine :o)

installed the new driver too, thanks for the tip-off; i was going with the premise that dell would've used the latest driver in the ESC fix, but seemingly they haven't. the swipe goes through a little smoother after installing the new driver, so seems worth it.

cheers for now...

Great stuff!
I wish I found this report earlier. I had a similar problem:
-- upgraded to IE7;
-- reinstalled Embassy for some reason;
-- couldn't start the security centre with "application unable to launch error"
-- reinstalled WinXP SP2 Prof., then Embassy
-- two fingerprints were stuck in the scanner, which refused to remove or enroll them again;
-- uninstalled Embassy, installed the SW from Toshiba Portege 450, removed fingerprints, TPM not supported;
-- uninstalled Toshiba, installed Embassy again;
-- works!!!

Now another problem: Embassy does not support Firefox and 3-line logins (as opposed to UPEK/Toshiba SW). Looking for solutions now.

My system is Dell Latitude D430, Intel Core2 Duo, UPEK fingerprint scanner, Atmel TPM. BTW, a new driver is available from UPEK web site.
