Proud To Be..

..backward! An Other Backward Class, or OBC that is. Or at least, that’s what the Gujjar flare-up in Rajasthan suggested to me. And the Meena community is so proud of being backward that they want to be the only one’s considered backward! Isn’t that amazing, 60-years since India became a sovereign democratic republic and we have riots, arson, looting and killing by entire communities - demanding to be declared backward!!

Has anyone bothered finding out about the bhils and other tribals and how they’ve been faring? I’m seriously considering a detailed research on little known tribes of the south - if I could trace some connection to one of these, I’m sure to be made a saint - so what if its only by my own family ;o)
