Lets Hear It For….
..the strong-man of Gujarat - the inimitable Narendra Modi. For he’s pulled it off yet again - Parzania, the film about a Parsi couple losing their son during the 2002 Gujarat riots will not be screened in any theater in Gujarat. As with Fanaa, an otherwise crappy film, this one too must be an insult to Gujarat.
And the ever-reliable goons of the Vanar Sena, sorry the Bajrang Dal can always be counted upon for ‘law-enforcement’, despite their hectic schedule - for instance, roughing up Muslim college students to warn them not to ‘lure any Hindu girls’!
My sympathies to the people of Gujarat, what a leader they have. I’m confident that the Cong (I) will make a hue and cry to draw maximum possible mileage from yet another opportunity to bash ‘fascist Modi’. And that, will be the end of that.
If this is what it takes to feel pride, then I want none of it. I want to be proud to be an Indian, and my religion has nothing to do with it. If anything, its people like these who make me want to turn atheist, if I’m not one already :o)
