It’s My Fault!

And though I could always hide behind my eccentric newspaper reading habits, this doesn’t offer more than a fig-leaf worth of cover. And we all know what happens to fig leaves and what they traditionally tend to cover, eh?

So I accept my guilt for my ignorance of the AGNI (Action for Good Governance & Networking in India) web-site. And of their rating system for the recently concluded BMC elections. Although it doesn’t seem to have made even a fig-leaf worth of difference to the people who have finally been voted to power. For the record, I’m more than disappointed with the outcome, I was hoping that the SS didn’t make it back. Not that the options were dramatically better - the NCP can be depended on to be opportunistic and as corrupt as the best, the Congress seems to set new benchmarks for arrogance and sycophancy… and the brooding men of the MNS were just too new and carried the smell of their feral ancestry.

What will be will be, and what must will come to pass. And so it has. Let us take hope from the new face that the SS is showing to the world, the apparent purge of the old-guard for new and younger faces and the waxing fortune of the middle-aged tiger-cub. Perhaps, the process of re-inventing themselves will not result in too much trauma to the citizens of the megalopolis. Hope, hope, what would we be without hope?

And I’m curious to know your views on the BMC elections and why the SS got back. :o)
