Solpa Adjust Madi!

For a variety of reasons, some unknown even to myself, it became necessary to upgrade the software that powers this blog. I hope that I’ve been successful in fabricating a sentence that suggests that the decision was not entirely in my hands, that there was some kind of force majeure that came into play? No? Ah well, I tried.

Anyway, things had been more or less running fine on MT ver.3.1x, I’d managed to change the templates (with much huffing and puffing of the almost defunct tech-brain muscles!) spam-blocking was working, and things had been generally okay for the last 12-months or so. Then…..

Almost as fateful and ominous sounding a word as ‘but’, eh? Then, I found that some comment spam had slipped thru’ a few days ago. Probably a human being at the other end as there were only two such entries and it happened only once. And yet…. there appeared a crack in paradise.

Also, my traffic and activity logs were showing a bizarre amount of attempts being made on getting in comments…… the bots were sweeping across entries, and getting thrown out by the security field! Mixed feelings, surely things could be better handled, surely there must be some kind of black-list that the good folk at MT had put together, surely there could be…..

And thus was the fateful decision to upgrade taken!

And you can see the mess around methinks? The templates have vanished and I’m back with some default, my images need to be restored, there are funny signs all over the place, from something having gone wrong with importing the entries…. oh dear, oh @#$#@#$ dear!

But never fear, what technology does, man can undo….. at least, I hope so. I request your kind indulgence for a few days, while I go about tidying up things. And I don’t expect to do another ‘upgrade’ in a while, honestly. And if there’s anything you’d like to suggest, any features that you may find useful, or any such thing, this may be a good time…. if I haven’t attempted to disembowel myself in the tidy-up that is :o)
