   was reading/watching about mr.telgi (cnn/ibn) this morning. i would like some RTI about this man and his supposed confessions/tapes/etc.

   apart from some resignations has anything been done to bring any of the accused to justice? i thought the figures were running into several thousand crores!

   i am completely lost here. a scam of this size should be enough to recreate a french revolution of sorts!! and all we have to show for it are some resignations…. and convenient reappearances (mr.bhujbal lets go of home ministry and comes back as PWD minister). the only people who seem to be interested in the affair now seems to be the media. what with the new craze for “breaking news!!!”.

   have we become so innured and indifferent? or are we worried that if we start punishing these people there will be no one left to take care of the country? a Ostrich mentality maybe?

   i dont want to know the entire gory details. all i want to know is if something messy has been discovered, whats being done to set it right and make sure it does not happen again. has anything been done to recover at least some part of the money?

   if you discover a cancer, you treat it or remove it. and you try to make sure it does not appear again.

   promising youngsters are paying with their lives trying to maintain the integrity and quality of life (like manjunath) in our country. and all our glorious leaders and their cronies can do is behave like a pack of vultures.

   succintly put unni. the RTI petition page has a provision for comments, and what you’ve mentioned here reminded me of my comment. which in a nutshell was that I’m completely ignorant of the procedure to be followed in order to access my right to information. and this is already a dramatic qualitative deterrent to the process!

   if this wasn’t bad enough, i’ve read more than one horror story of the stone-walling that more knowledgeable and persistent people have faced when attempting to access information… and this seems to cut across the government - local to central.

   if the file notings are left out, what is the information that’s then to be obtained? going to establish beyond any doubt that this is nothing but a frantic attempt by the bureaucracy to cover its corrupt, inept and absolutely parasitical behavior! so imho, its not so much the politicos but the babus who are out to shaft the rti….
