Classic Short Stories

Reading as a source of entertainment? Hmmmmm, sounds rather old fashioned is the distinct impression that I have these days. A visit to Crosswords or Strand, and the average age of the book-browsers there seems to validate my feeling. Anyway, if you’re here then you probably enjoy reading, so you’re more likely to enjoy a rather fine collection of old classic short stories by the likes of O. Henry, Chekhov, Maupassant, Mark Twain and others. Sadly, in my view, H H Munro who could have taught many a trick to Jeffrey Archer and others is represented with just two stories. Hopefully, this will change over time as the collected works of Saki (as Munro wrote) is truly amazing.

Enough rambling though, or this posting will become a short story! Many thanks to whoever has put up the site, I wonder why the stories aren’t organized by author though. Check out the stories, and happy reading!
