Achievement for the day - you can now search this site! Hmmmm…. why? Well, as the most frequent visitor to this site, I was having some difficulty figuring out whether I’d already posted some plagiarized content earlier…. once accidentally stumbling onto the fact that I’d made the same posting twice with a gap of a couple of months! Causing me no end of embarassment, given the multiple personality disorder that I suffer from :o)

In all fairness, the incident I refer to had to do with a PowerThoughts posting that got inadvertantly repeated. But it could also have happened with some of my own writing, as I tend to write all over the place including on various pieces of paper across the many writing pads that I keep re-discovering now and then. The quest for the perfect writing pad has been a long and arduous and as yet unsuccessful one. In case you have any suggestions on this score, or better yet, happen to possess the perfect writing pad/book, please drop me a line. And I’ll be happy to give you my mailing address!

And thus it happened that I began to feel the itch and the urge - to be able to quickly check the existing content on this ‘ere blog. Now the smart folk at Movable Type have already thought of this and the search functionality is part of the default installation. But! I’d gone and changed the layout templates, in the process of which exercise, the search results page came out looking like something the cat wouldn’t bring in…. on a bad day. And thus, a simple and expedient approach was taken to handling the problem - take out the search from the blog, and to tranlate an old, hoary often-used Bollywood dialogue - “Will not remain flute, will not be played the flute!!”

This was fine, till I discovered the duplicate plagiarized posting!

And so to celebrate All Fool’s Day, spent some time tinkering around with the templates and what-not’s that power this stupendous publishing system. And with the help of a terribly technically competent colleague, search is back. Errrr….well, actually, if it wasn’t for him, search wouldn’t be back. But it was MY idea, so there. I hope you find it as useful as I do. And while the results page isn’t half as bad as it used to be, its not exactly looking like the rest of this site. And no, you’re not allowed to comment on how the rest of this site looks, I’m not asking for comments see?? :o)
